Under the media program, professions in the field of Ophthalmology were interviewed about how AI is being applied to research studies. Imsight, being a pioneer in the field of medical image analysis, has successfully brought AI technology into a tailored web-based software platform, with a data management system to efficiently process data at scale across imaging platforms and devices.
Ophthalmologists see AI in the eye-care industry
Hospitals and eye clinics have been in great demand in ophthalmology services to provide better evaluations and treatments to patients. AI can conduct simple assessments that can be effectively used to identify individuals with the disease and to provide early diagnosis, even in patterns that are not immediately obvious to the human eye.

The interviewee has also mentioned how AI can ease doctor’s intensive workflow and accelerate the diagnostic process. The tool is expected to save time that facilitates communication between specialist and patient for a better-off medical outcome.
▲ Professor said AI won’t replace doctors in the foreseeable future.
Intelligence in Ophthalmology
Today, Imsight partnered with medical professionals to create an optimized solution for navigating imaging data, computing imaging biomarkers and tracking changes over time for the common forms of lesions. Such tools will be helpful in diagnostic analyses and clinical workflows such as prioritizing patient follow-up and early intervention.
University-Industry Collaboration
To detect glaucomatous optic neuropathy and diabetic macular edema, the university research has recently built and been validating a 3D AI device using SDOCT volumetric images for pattern recognition and image classification via deep learning.

Imsight has been proactively participating in the university research in developing a platform in AI-assisted ophthalmology diagnostic systems. We are appreciated being involved in the research development phase on optimizing the eye screening workflow while the University concentrates on R&D and grooming professional experts. Imsight welcomes any research opportunities to form synergies with partners in delivering the best results for patients.
